Living Water

Water is essential to live! Our bodies need it to function properly. In the same way, we must water seeds that are planted in order for them to grow and become what they were meant to be. The seeds of truth, planted in your heart, will grow stronger when they are watered also. How do you water the seeds in your heart? Praying (talking to Him) and reading the Bible will nurture those seeds. Your understanding and direction will become clearer. You will hear His voice and feel the Holy Spirit as you seek Him.

Natural water is used in our lives to quench our thirst, to rinse, refresh and cool. Natural water has it’s purpose in our bodies, and God supplied that need. However, the Bible references water in a much different way. The symbolic value of water is illustrated in baptism, but Jesus brought that symbol to life. Jesus supplies living water. The power of living water causes us to never thirst again! It is unlike the natural need for water we are born with. It is brought to life when we are born again, with Jesus in our hearts.

Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. -John 3:5 ESV

Jesus gave a powerful account of living water in the Bible, speaking to a Samaritan woman, drawing natural water from a well. He asked her for a drink, which in itself was a testimony of his nature and who he was, since Jesus was a Jew and she was Samaritan. Jews and Samaritans, in those day, did not associate. But Jesus saw her the same as everyone else. He is FOR everyone, no matter what.

Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, 'Give me a drink,' you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water. -John 4:10 NIV
Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” -John 4:10 ESV

So powerful! How God takes the ordinary and makes it extraordinary!! There is so much to learn about His water! Keep watering your seeds and discover His voice.
